I found these adorable shoes at an antique shop in Snohomish. Sadly, they are way to small for me to actually wear. But! Not too small to paint. :)

You may be wondering why the frequent posts lately. It's because daily painting has really been on my mind. I have two art festivals coming up in the next couple weeks were I will be out selling them.

The first is the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival, August 12th and 13th. If you need an excuse to come to Whidbey Island and you enjoy art festivals, this is your ticket. For more info on the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival click HERE.

The second festival is the following weekend, August 19th and 20th. Fresh Paint is Everett's best kept secret. Both festivals are held by the sea but this one really emphasizes artist demonstrations. So if you like to see how art is created get more info by clicking HERE. 

My advice for attending an art festival is to come early! Maybe even a bit before it starts when the temperatures are still cool and the parking is ample.

Returning to the Stehekin trip, I painted this on the deck of the house we rented.

Aaahhh, what a great trip.

Running around working on last minute details for the Fresh Paint Festival tomorrow. Don and I did most of the set up this evening. Thank goodness for tall, helpful husbands with long arms!

I feel like this is one of my best plein airs to date. My daughter's and I went hiking with friends on a trail not too far from home. I stopped part way in to paint along the river while they did all the hard work hiking up to the falls. I think I had the best deal. This painting sold at the Coupeville Arts festival last weekend.

This painting is a demo from the Fresh Paint Festival in Everett.

I've been pleasantly surprised at how popular my doughnut and pie paintings have been.

So I thought it would be a fun subject for the festival. I received lots of offers to add

interest by taking a bite out of my prop. I didn't take up any of the offers

because I was afraid they wouldn't stop at just one. :)

A huge thank you to everyone for a very successful weekend at the Fresh Paint Festival. It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces. It was also a great pleasure meeting many new people. My family came out in force to help. My oldest daughter Anika worked the booth with me and just about my entire family helped tear down and pack up the booth Sunday evening. You guys are awesome!

I've discovered our fence is a good place to prop up a painting for a quick photo. :)

This is Sunday's demo from the festival. The flowers are geraniums from my backyard meant for decorating the booth. On Saturday, I kept noticing them while I was painting the pears. On Sunday, I could resist no longer.

 

 

 

 

 

They have a lot of extra room in front of the booths to set up for a demo. Notice the geraniums have been whisked out of the booth and into a shadow box to pose for my painting. :)

 

 

 

 

Just before the festival ended I ran down to see the tall ships.

Wow! Another successful festival! I can't hardly believe my good fortune. A great thing about this festival was seeing many people I knew. A few of them I hadn't seen in years! It was wonderful visiting with old and new friends. A very big thank you to everyone who decided to give one of my little paintings a good home. And a HUGE thank you to my family for working hard the second weekend in a row.

 

 

 

 

On Sunday, the Everett Farmers Market became part of the festival. This was my favorite booth. :)

 

 

 

 

Saturday I painted standing in the sun. Holy cow that was hot and uncomfortable. In desperation, I asked Don to figure out a way to set up my plein air umbrella on the pavement. He definitely came through! Below is Don setting up his new invention. It worked like a charm! I am sooooo grateful for my clever husband.
