No. 640 Nikki's Eggs

Nikki's Eggs
Oil on Linen Panel
7" x 5"

A demo from my Wednesday morning oil painting class. After a summer break, we are back at it next week. I'm very excited to have a full class of wonderful students. If anyone is interested, I've also added a Monday evening class for those who have to work or take care of kids during the day.

There are unexpected benefits to teaching. One of my students, Nikki, has hens. During a particularly prolific egg laying period she brought in beautiful, fresh eggs for us to paint and take home!  In addition to raising fine, egg-laying chickens, Nikki is a wonderful artist and teaches art to children. Visit her website HERE.

No.639 Concie's Geraniums

Concie's Geraniums
Oil on Linen Panel
7" x 5"
Sold

This was painted in Lake Chelan early this summer. I had just finished teaching a painting workshop  to a terrific group of ladies the day before. My students were so inspiring that I couldn't wait to paint. Concie, my wonderful host, had the perfect model lounging on her deck. A big thank you to Perry for taking this little painting into her home.

Lake Chelan is such a lovely place. It's so sad to hear about the terrible wild fires there. Concie and her friends' houses are safe for now, thank goodness.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the wild fires on the east side.

A huge thank you to everyone for a very successful weekend at the Fresh Paint Festival. It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces. It was also a great pleasure meeting many new people. My family came out in force to help. My oldest daughter Anika worked the booth with me and just about my entire family helped tear down and pack up the booth Sunday evening. You guys are awesome!

My daughter, Anika, at the back of the booth with my demo of the day, dahlias, at the front.

The view while walking from my car to my booth. Not too shabby, right? :)

No. 637 Oh, So Yummy!

Oh, So Yummy!
Oil on Linen Panel
7" x 5"

This is it! The last art festival of the year, at least for me, is Fresh Paint. It's a wonderful art festival on the Everett waterfront with over a hundred artists demonstrating their craft right before your eyes.

Recipe for an excellent visit to Fresh Paint:
1. The day before your visit make a reservation for lunch at Anthony's or Lombardi's restaurants right next to the festival.
 2. Come early! It starts at 10:00am. Early birds will get the parking right next to the festival.
3. Stop by my booth and say "hi!"
4. After two hours of discovering wonderful new art, take advantage of your lunch reservation. Enjoy a view of the water while you dine.
5. With refreshed feet and tummy, finish discovering the festival.
6. Be sure to see a glass blowing demo or two.
7. If you haven't already... stop by my booth and say "hi!"

Sunday the festival includes the Everett Farmer's Market. For more info about the festival click HERE.

Those Marvelous Peonies
Oil on Linen Panel
5" x 7"

A painting from earlier in the summer that sold at the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival this past weekend.

My daughter, Meg, helping out in the booth.

It was sunny, hot, successful weekend at the Coupeville festival. A HUGE thank you to my husband, Don, and my daughter, Meg, for all their help with the fair. Also a very big thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth to check out my artwork, chat, puff up my ego with compliments and the ultimate compliment - purchase my paintings. I can't tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of you.

Now it's time for a brief rest before gearing up for the next festival - Fresh Paint!
