Day 349 Winter Solstice in Snohomish

Winter Solstice in Snohomish - Plein Air
Oil on Linen Panel
5" x 7"

Several years ago the mayor and her husband started the tradition of lining the river walk in downtown Snohomish with luminaries on winter solstice. This is no small project. Lots of volunteers put the luminaries together, set them out and three hours later pick them up. What a great way to celebrate the solstice. I really enjoyed trying to capture it and all the people I got to chat with as they passed by.

Day 348 And More....

Christmas Feelings Marble

Despite the name of is particular variety of poinsettia I've decided that red poinsettias are for Christmas and pink ones are for New Years. So it's okay to keep posting these..... :)

Day 347 And More....

And More.....

Large pots with three different colors of poinsettias beckoned to me. "Take me home with yooouuuu," they said. Oh, if only I had a bigger house!

I'm back after a little Christmas break. I hope your Christmas was excellent. Mine was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster since it's the first without my mom. She really loved Christmas. My family really hung in there though. I have to hand it to them. Thanks guys!

This is my very favorite poinsettia variety. It actually makes my heart flutter when I walk by, a nice distraction.

The last of this particular series and probably the best. It's time to take those candy canes out of that silver vase and put them in a cup of hot chocolate.......

2014 Calendar Daily Paintings - Florals

With over 300 daily paintings from the past year it's hard to make just one calendar. :) So here you have the floral version...

2014 Art Calendars

I have to give complete credit to Brenda Ferguson, a terrific artist/blogger I like to follow, for this wonderful idea of creating a desk calendar of one's artwork. I love these calendars since they are small enough to set next to your phone or computer and are very affordable.

In line with my usual tendency to get over excited about a new idea, I have three daily painting versions available. First is the calendar with mixed subject matter. You can see the pages below. There is also a floral version and a landscape version.  So as not to overwhelm you, I will post images from those calendars over the next two days. Sadly, I didn't have time to get these made for the stocking stuffers Brenda suggested. On the bright side, that just means you get to keep them for yourself. :)

I have a limited number of  2014 Desk Calendars available.  Each month displays a different painting from my year of daily painting. Below you can see each month's art selection. The calendars are 4" x 8" and are self standing.

Updated 3/14 All calendars are gone. Thank you!

Day 342 Daniel Smith to the Rescue

Daniel Smith to the Rescue

I loved the look of these candy canes in the silver vase but couldn't decide on a background. Luckily a bag from Daniel Smith Art Supply was sitting nearby. The color of the bad and the logo were just what I was looking for, adding a touch of nostalgia.
