I don't know why this teapot reminds me of Alladin's lamp but it certainly does.

Everything is trashed! The house is trashed, my studio is trashed and even a part of the backyard is trashed getting ready for the festival this weekend. Will it all come together? We'll see...

Flash back to last years festival with Meg helping out. Gone are the red curtains, tulip banner and golden backboards.

If you think you can make it to the festival my advice is to come Sunday morning. You also might consider driving up by Anacortes and down the island instead of taking the ferry. If you decide to take the ferry you can keep an eye on wait times via their website. Here is a link to their webcams.

The girls and I will be located near Toby's Tavern in site 197. I'm pretty excited. I have a spot on the water side of the street. You should be able to see Penn Cove right through my booth! Click here for a map to the festival.

Okay! My first attempt at a regular still life outside of the workshop using some of the ideas I learned. I have to mention that teapot and I are no longer friends. I painted it, and repainted it, and repainted it, and repainted it. Then I gave up. :( Moving on....

I find myself attracted to paintings with large black shapes in them. Can anyone tell me why? Here is my small attempt at one such painting.

Although I'm not a hundred percent happy with the rendering of the teapot I am quite smitten with the rich colors of this little painting.

On a separate note, I believe it's time to go cold turkey on the prop collecting for awhile. The lure of finding a two dollar treasure hidden on a crowded thrift store shelf is addictive to say the least. When you can't find space on the table to set your palette down because it's full of vases, bowls, creamers, teapots, teacups and what not, it's time. Lets see how long I can hold out......

Oh my, Don and I had a great anniversary trip!. We went to the Bavarian themed town of Leavenworth in the mountains. We were looking for snow and we found it! We stayed at the truly wonderful bed and breakfast Abendblume.

Abenblume was built twenty years ago by the innkeepers after an inspiring trip to Austria.

We stayed in the gorgeous room known as Almrosen.

Check it out! There was an actual wood burning fireplace in our room! Fabulous after a chilly walk through town.
