Day 341 Two More Gents from the Drawing Jam

Mark Mitchell Surrounded
Oil on Canvas Panel
6" x 6"

Mark Mitchell, a well known designer in Seattle, is being surrounded by one of his creations. It is an extremely long, large, tulle boa. Fabulous!

Sorry, all I know about this guy is he was in a band and he was fun to paint. Beards were very prevelant on the male models that day. :) Which is fine by me as it's easier to paint a beard than a chin.

Day 340 Kitty Baby Burlesque - Drawing Jam Study

Kitty Baby Burlesque - Drawing Jam Study #1
Oil on Canvas Board
5" x 7"

The maximum length pose held in the "Stars of Seattle" room was twenty minutes. I had to do some seroiously fast painting! It was a good oportunity to loosen up. Kitty Baby Burlesque was a great model. I don't remember if this was a ten or twenty minute pose. I do remember that she held a huge, sparkley smile the entire time. Made my cheeks hurt.

Another pose after a quick costume change. She was still smiling! Amazing cheek muscles that woman has.

Day 339 Seafair Pirate Studies

Mr. Seafair Pirate #1

Last weekend I volunteered at the Gage's Drawing Jam in Seattle. What a terrific event for artists of all levels and ages. I know of no other place where you can take your pick of live models in four or five different rooms, sculpt in another and have your kids learn how to make lino prints in yet another. I was a studio monitor in the "Stars of Seattle" room. The Seafair pirates are absolutely in that catagory.
