Had a great time at the Fresh Paint Festival. A big thanks to everyone who stopped by and especially to those who took something special home with them. You are all very much appreciated!

Now that's how you want to see a booth! Full of lots of visitors! Also, you can see my new banner above. A big thanks to Don for creating the special supports that attached it to my booth. You're my hero!

My daughter, Anika, way in the back, manning the booth for her fourth year!

My daughter, Megan, waiting to carefully package that next sold painting.

The view outside my booth.

The little musician playing his violin outside my booth. Wow, could he play! It was another beautiful weekend on the Everett waterfront.

No. 807 Coupeville Wharf - Plein Air

Coupeville Wharf
Plein Air
Oil on Canvas Panel
6" x 8"

One of my better plein air paintings of the wharf in Coupeville. Painted earlier this summer. We're mostly packed for the Coupeville Art Festival and headed to the ferry early tomorrow morning to beat the summer traffic (hopefully).

Two days until the festival!

No. 806 Daffs by the Doorway

Daffs by the Doorway
Oil on Canvas Panel
6" x 8"

This was painted using a method Shelby Keefe prefers. It begins with an acrylic under-painting using colors complimentary to what will eventually be placed on top. The idea is to let little bits of the under color show through in the final painting. It makes for a pretty vibrant painting in the end.

Coupeville Art Festival countdown starts - 6 days. That means six days to squeeze in a couple more paintings, fix old ones, varnish finished ones, make sure I have everything I need, update my website, prep drapery and table clothes and a few other things I'm forgetting at the moment. Time to start a to-do list!

No. 804 Ooo! La! La!

Ooo! La! La!
Oil on Canvas Panel
5" x 7"

I found these adorable shoes at an antique shop in Snohomish. Sadly, they are way to small for me to actually wear. But! Not too small to paint. :)

You may be wondering why the frequent posts lately. It's because daily painting has really been on my mind. I have two art festivals coming up in the next couple weeks were I will be out selling them.

The first is the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival, August 12th and 13th. If you need an excuse to come to Whidbey Island and you enjoy art festivals, this is your ticket. For more info on the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival click HERE.

The second festival is the following weekend, August 19th and 20th. Fresh Paint is Everett's best kept secret. Both festivals are held by the sea but this one really emphasizes artist demonstrations. So if you like to see how art is created get more info by clicking HERE

My advice for attending an art festival is to come early! Maybe even a bit before it starts when the temperatures are still cool and the parking is ample.

Shropshires with Green Vase
Oil on Gessobord

More roses you say? Ooooohh yes!

And a photo from France - Antibes, France to be exact. Couldn't resist the color of the table and chairs next to the texture of the iron work on the doors.
