Just a quick note to say, after weeks of prep, we're ready for the festival! Yay! Tonight is set up. Tomorrow is the big day. Wish me luck!

Some of the historical buildings on the Coupeville waterfront.

While searching for flowers for the booth, I came across these beautiful things.

No. 634 Golden Goblet with Pear

Golden Goblet with Pear
Oil on Linen Panel
7" x 5"
This painting has a bit of a "Renaissance" feel that I love. I used a palette knife to break things up a bit and add some variety to the edges and background.

Stage one of getting ready for the Coupeville Arts and Crafts festival has been completed. All paintings have been signed and edges touched up. Now it is time to pull out the tent and try to remember how to put everything together...

No. 633 The Newest Roses

The Newest Roses
Oil on Gessobord
6" x 6"

So happy I bought this rose. These flowers have been a joy to paint.

I'd hoped to share more of my trip and watercolor journal by now but I'm knee deep in preparations for the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival on August 1 and 2. I applied for two art festivals this year and was accepted to both. No waiting list this year! The second festival is Fresh Paint on the Everett waterfront. It's being held August 15 and 16. Now...back to getting ready!

No. 632 Bempton Cliffs - Travel Journal Entry

Hello! Back from Europe and mostly recovered from jet lag, I'm eager to share my trip with you. Instead of painting in oils, I decided to try an new form of expression - the watercolor journal. It involves less space, less gear and dries much quicker. There was far too much to see in the time we had to paint on location. So most of these watercolors were painted on my sister's dining room table in Tadcaster, a village outside of York. You're right, no dining room table is safe from me!

Razorbills on Bempton Cliffs, a national bird sanctuary on the east coast of England.

Not so rare birds but still lovely to paint.

So I've discovered something new, I love to watercolor journal! It's an amazing way to express the excitement of traveling somewhere new and beautiful. A big thank you to Jan Jewell for giving me the idea and Charlene Freeman for teaching me how.

No. 631 A Sunny Afternoon with Peonies

A Sunny Afternoon with Peonies - Plein Air
Oil on Gessobord
6" x 6"

Having fun painting in my backyard. We've had so much amazing weather this year.
My new favorite scent is peony.

This is a quick post. While Don and Megan hold down the home front, Anika and I are off to England tomorrow! We will be staying with my sister, Renee, just outside of York. I hope to do lots of painting, if not in oil than in watercolor. I'll do my best to post a few while we're there.
See you on the flip side! :)

No. 630 Raspberry Sherbert

Raspberry Sherbert
Oil on Linen Panel
7" x 5"

This is a flower from my very own rose bush purchased at the Antique Rose Farm last year. I'm in love. These flowers are simply gorgeous and I'm so very happy I brought them home. I gave up on roses years ago but with the assistance of the very helpful people from the Antique Rose Farm I was finally successful growing my own. I still can't believe it!

Coupeville Wharf - Mini Plein Air

It's always fun painting in downtown Coupeville!

I'm very excited to announce that two of my painting were excepted into the Edmonds Art Festival juried art show. This is one of the tougher shows in the area to get into, so I'm very honored. Don and I visited the show this morning and discovered that Heirloom Silver sold! Whoopee!
It's a wonderful art show and festival. I highly recommend a visit.
