No. 779 Peggy's Spools #2

Peggy's Spools #2
Oil on Gessobord
6" x 6"

I was inspired to by my friend Peggy to collect this colorful group of old spools. She was a food stylist at one time and had a great eye for a still life subject. Peggy, sadly(for me), had to move back to California but her spools have been gently calling to me from the shelf for quite awhile.

No. 709 Tulips and Thread

Tulips and Thread
Oil on Linen Panel

What do you do when you have two subjects you really want to paint but they don't necessarily seem to go together? You put them together anyway. :) Oh, it helps if the colors relate well.

No. 675 Peggy's Jar of Wooden Spools

One class a month is what I like to call "party day". We set up still lifes and have class in the morning, then walk to a nearby restaurant for lunch and return to paint some more afterwards. I get to take off the mantle of teacher and join in on the fun during the post lunch session. Best idea ever!
Peggy designed this still life set up. I fell in love with her jar of wooden spools.
