  I cut these sunflowers at Bailey's U-Pick farm. It was a bit of a dangerous operation as the bees were everywhere and really didn't want to give up those flowers.
 
Did I mention how disappointed I am that sunflowers make me sneeze?

I so enjoy painting sunflowers. After sneezing and sneezing and sneezing, it finally occurred to me that perhaps I wasn't coming down with a cold. It was those silly sunflowers! Maybe it's time to find a really nice silk version. :(

Wow! I have so much to be thankful for I don't even know where to start. A wonderful family, a comfortable home and a beautiful place to live are my foundation. Then there are three years of daily painting and all the blessings that has brought - a growing business, new friends, recognition and last but not least an opportunity to teach a wonderful group of students. Oh my, I think I'm going to have to find some tissues!

Oh no, I won't forget about you! I'm so very thankful that you take the time out of your busy day to read my humble blog. It means the world to me! Thank you.

Love the intense color of the Cinderella pumpkins. All the different types of pumpkins you see these days are amazing. One farm we stopped at had a display of 50 different varieties. Who knew?

Some more flowers from the U- Pick patch outside of Snohomish. I tried to stop there today after class to refresh my stock. I was very disappointed to find it was closed for the season. I had visions of sneaking in to cut some of the few remaining flowers I could see from the road. Then reason returned...

 I went a little bonkers the other day. I stopped at a farmers market on Marsh Road just outside of Snohomish and discovered U-pick flowers were only 20 cents a stem. What a deal! Many flowers came home with me...

I have been on a quest to find these ceramic bottles for a couple of years.

One of my favorite artists, Alexander Zimin, uses them beautifully in his still lifes. This summer I was thrilled to discover them while shopping with my sister. There they sat glowing in a window display of a thrift shop on the island. It was meant to be.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Everett Farmer's Market.

There are three or four booths bursting at the seams with locally grown flowers. It is a

 blast wandering from booth to booth looking for the perfect bouquet. :)

 

This week was the beginning of my Monday evening class. Lucky me! I have not one but two wonderful groups of students to teach.

Art is alive and well at Penny Creek Elementary! Both of my daughters are Penny Creek alumni so I was honored to be invited to demo at their second annual art walk.  What a terrific event! The walls were absolutely covered with art inside the hallways and outside in the courtyard. All kinds of wonderful creations were to be seen from mobiles based on Chihuly's glass pieces to Andy Warhol styled self portraits. The kids and art docents of Penny Creek truly have something to be proud of. Congratulations, Diana, on spearheading such an inspiring celebration of art!

Whoa! September had to be one of the busiest months I've ever experienced. Classes, trips, curriculum nights at the girls schools, the 30 in 30 challenge, it was fun but exhausting. So after recuperating and catching up on neglected to-dos, I'm back! Just in time for painting pumpkins...

You may be thinking, "Wait! Didn't she already post this?" The answer is no but it is very similar to one I posted earlier. I loved this bouquet so much I couldn't paint it just once. The main difference is the lighting. The first painting was created under natural light. This one was painted under artificial light. There is another difference. Can you spot it? :)
